A motion requesting that the Municipal Council’s Legislative Officers review the Mayor’s recently issued Executive Order that funds the operations of the Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation, thus bypassing the Municipal Council’s fiduciary responsibility to approve the expenditure of tax payer dollars and essentially fund a private entity (NWCED) without consent or approval of the Governing Body and provide the Municipal Council with an opinion regarding the legality of the Mayor’s action.

A motion requesting that the Administration provide the Municipal Council with a status report on the open appointment process that allows interested citizens to apply to serve on the Mayor’s Boards and Commissions.

A motion requesting that the Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals, update and inform the residents of the St. Mary’s Villa Housing Complex on the progress and schedule of the streetscape project in this neighborhood.

A motion requesting that the Administration, Office of Affirmative Action and Set Aside Program, provide the Municipal council with a status report on the Administration’s efforts to monitor contractor’s compliance with the City’s First Source Ordinance and Affirmative Action Plan with regard to construction job sites throughout the City to ensure that Newark residents are adequately employed and represented at these work sites; further, requesting that the Manager of the Office of Affirmative Action be prepared and available to discuss said report with the Governing Body at a future Special Conference of the Municipal Council.

A motion requesting that the Municipal Council Legislative Officers research and draft an ordinance that would require landlords in the City of Newark to pay attorney’s fees for successful tenants if lease reserves the landlord the same right as is currently being proposed by Senator Brian P. Stack via Senate Bill No. 2018.

A motion requesting that the Administration provide the Municipal Council with its plan to manage and operate the City’s Water and Sewer assets, facilities and infrastructure, independent of any contract or involvement from the Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation.
