A motion requesting that the Essex County Sherriff’s Office, the Newark Police Department and the Bloomfield Avenue/Lower Broadway Business Improvement District security officers, strictly enforce and deter the hazardous double-parking and idling taking place on Bloomfield Avenue near lower Broadway during the rush hours; furthermore, requesting that the Department of Engineering, Division of Code Enforcement begin an aggressive enforcement against businesses that fail to properly maintain their premises, including the removal of graffiti from their storefronts in the Bloomfield Avenue, lower Broadway Business Improvement District.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE FOLLOWING FOR THE PORT STREET CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT: (1) THE CITY OF NEWARK AUTHORIZES THE PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY THE RIGHT TO ACQUIRE BY CONDEMNATION PARCELS A1-A7 SET FORTH IN DRAWING NUMBER REF01, OF EXHIBIT A OF THE TWENTY- FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEWARK AND THE PORT AUTHORITY; (2) UPON ACQUISITION AND COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION BY THE PORT AUTHORITY FOR THE PORT STREET CORRIDOR, THE CITY IS AUTHORIZED TO ACCEPT PARCELS A1-A7 SET FORTH IN DRAWING NUMBER REF01 IN A CONVEYANCE FROM THE PORT AUTHORITY TO THE CITY OF NEWARK; AND (3) THE CITY IS AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED LICENSE AGREEMENT AND THE UTILITY AGREEMENT. A motion requesting that the Newark Parking Authority review its event parking pricing policy to include a greater notification to the general public, and especially to Newark’s senior population who are unaware of the dramatic increase in pricing.

A motion requesting that the Department of Health and Community Wellness provide to the Municipal Council, through the City Clerk’s Office, an update on the City’s animal shelter.

A motion requesting that the Department of Public Works clean the debris and remove the extremely vulgar and obscene language that has been painted on the concrete barriers located at Delancey Street and Bay Avenue.

A motion requesting that the Fire Department provide the Municipal Council with the status of the proposed fire lane being recommended by the Department of Engineering at the 444 Mount Prospect Avenue location.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 11th to be “Dr. Carter G. Woodson Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the League of Women Voters for their work promoting active, participatory elections and democracy and congratulates them on their 100th Anniversary; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, February 11, 2020 to be “League of Women Voters Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
