Foy was one of the many community activists in this great metropolis as a consummate public servant and a renowned man of God; and WHEREAS, Newark Residents was very fond of this community legend for his many contributions and donations to everyone; and WHEREAS, the late Bishop Harold N. Foy leaves behind a history of community and personal achievements in both his public and private lifestyles; and WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Newark, New Jersey is seeking to maintain his legacy amongst the residents of this City by designating signage within the City of Newark honoring the many successful years of his unselfish contributions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT: 1. The corner of Kearny Street and Summer Avenue is hereby designated as the late “Bishop Harold L. Foy, Plaza” for honorary and ceremonial purposes. 2. The Official name of said streets shall remain as Kearny Street and Summer Avenue in its entirety.
